At the foot of Doi Suthep Mountain overlooking Chiang Mai, in a residential area near the local university. Small shops and restaurants are nearby and a 800m walk will take you to a main road leading (6 km) to the city centre.
The Gym
Partially roofed, open on three sides, there are currently 9 punching bags of various sizes and weight. A speed ball, punch ball, sit-up benches, chin up bar, skipping ropes, mirror and free weights make up the floor equipment. There are two official size boxing rings under their own roofs.
Boxing Equipment
Training equipment such as head gear, focus mitts, kick pads and stomach pads are supplied. Each visiting boxer is expected to provide their own boxing shorts, hand wraps, mouth guards, sparring gloves, shin guards and bag gloves. Steel groin guards are supplied if you are fighting. All equipment associated with Muay Thai may be purchased through the boxing camp at very reasonable prices.
Training / Fighting
Training varies daily, depending on each boxers ability, fitness level and fight schedule.
The boxers will fight once every 3-4 weeks depending on the season and availability of match ups.
Fights occur year round with the busiest time between October and March when there are many country fairs and festivals.
Foreign boxers, after assessment by our manager, may be matched up against local Thai boxers at all levels of competition.
When any of our boxers are fighting, everyone goes along, to offer support, help in preparing the boxer and work the corner during the fight.
These trips to the country fairs or local stadiums are an important part to learning and understanding Muay Thai.
